Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider 2-Day Course
This two-day American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS Provider Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, as well as the 2019 Update to the 2018 ASA Ischemic Stroke Guidelines. ACLS teaches the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, high-performance teams, continuous high-quality CPR, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac arrest care, acute dysrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS). The goal of the ACLS Provider Course is to improve outcomes for adult patients of cardiac arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies through early recognition and interventions by high-performance teams.
In this 2-day course students will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate proficiency in the following skills used in resuscitation:
- Systematic approach (assessment)
- High-quality BLS
- Airway Management
- Rhythm recognition
- Defibrillation
- Use of medications
- Cardioversion
- Transcutaneous pacing
- High-performance teams
Card: After course completion criteria are met, a card valid for two years will be issued via email within 3-5 business days after the date of the class.

Requirements to Pass: Skill testing and written testing are required to pass this course.
Course Manual:Your ACLS Provider Manual will be mailed to you within three business days of registration if your registration is completed more than a week prior to the course start date. If you register less than a week prior to the start of your class, you will need to pick up your book at the Inova Well office or request an eBook. If you would like to pick up your book or want to request an eBook, please call 571-472-1401. If you select an eBook, it is not returnable once the online code has been emailed to you.
Required Pre-Course Work: Please bring a printed copy of your precourse self assessment score report with a 70% or better score. Details about the mandatory self-assessment can be found in the student letter in the confirmation email after registering Please note, you will NOT be admitted to the class if you do not bring a copy of your precourse self-assessment score report.

Who should enroll: Personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, as well as others who require an ACLS course completion card for a job or other requirements.

Location notes: We are located on ICPH campus, Inova Well Joan and Russell Hitt Center for Healthy Living; 8100 Innovation Park Drive, Fairfax, VA 22031 Lower Level. Enter the building via the main entrance on Innovation Park Drive (under the sky bridge), take elevators down to lower level and follow signs to the appropriate classroom.

Parking notes: Please allow extra time for parking and walking to the classroom as the parking lot is very busy. From the parking lot follow Innovation Park Drive to enter the main entrance of building 8100. Take lobby elevators down to the lower level.

Weather policy: Information about cancellations due to inclement weather or an area emergency can be obtained by calling the Inova Well weather hotline at 571-472-1438. Class cancellations do not always follow local public school closings. To reschedule or request a refund for cancellation due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances call 571-472-1401. Classes not rescheduled within 30 days of cancellation will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for registration. These non-registrant initialed cancellations, refunds and transfers will not incur a 20% processing fee.
What to bring: Please review the "ACLS Provider 2024 Student Information Letter" in your registration confirmation email. Please bring a printed copy of your ACLS precourse self-assessment score report with a 70% or better score. You will NOT be admitted to the class if you do not bring your score report.
