HeartCode® BLS Blended Learning

HeartCode® BLS is for healthcare professionals who have experience and knowledge of Basic Life Support skills. This course has been updated to reflect the new 2020 CPR & ECC Guidelines. HeartCode® BLS Online is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses adaptive learning technology to allow learners to acquire and demonstrate Basic Life Support skills using a personalized learning path that adapts in real time to a learner’s performance. This course consists of two parts:

Part 1 - Online eLearning Course – After registering for this course you will receive an email within 3 business days containing your 2020 HeartCode BLS Online eLearning code. The email containing your code will come from eLearning.heart.org. This code in the form of a unique link provides access to the online course. After successfully completing the online course you will receive a certificate of completion. Please note, you must print and bring a copy of the 2020 HeartCode BLS Online certificate of completion with you to the in-person HeartCode BLS classroom course you have selected. You will NOT be admitted to the in-person class if you do not bring your certificate of completion. We suggest allowing at least 2 hours for the online eLearning course. 

Part 2 - In-Person Classroom Course – After completing the online eLearning course described above, you will then attend the pre-scheduled in-person classroom course on the date you registered for. This in-person classroom course will include hands-on practice and skills testing. The structured classroom portion takes about 2 hours and requires on-time attendance for the full course. Please note, if you arrive late or leave early you will NOT successfully complete the course.

Card: After successful completion of the online eLearning course and the in-person classroom course, a certification card valid for two years will be issued, via email within 3-5 business days after the date of the course.

Course Materials: Your 2020 HeartCode BLS online course code will be emailed to you within 3 business days of registration.

Who should enroll: This class is for healthcare professionals who have prior knowledge and experience performing Basic Life Support skills and require a BLS certification card for their job or other requirements

Location notes: We are located on the ICPH campus Inova Well; 8100 Innovation Park Drive, Fairfax, VA 22031, conference center building 2nd floor. Enter the building via the main entrance on Innovation Park Drive (under the sky bridge), take elevators up to 2nd floor, exit elevators to your right and follow signage to conference room (on your right).

Weather policy: Information about cancellations due to inclement weather or an area emergency can be obtained by calling the Inova Well weather hotline at 571-472-1438. Class cancellations do not always follow local public school closings. To reschedule or request a refund for cancellation due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances call 571-472-1401. Classes not rescheduled within 30 days of cancellation will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for registration. These non-registrant initialed cancellations, refunds and transfers will not incur a 20% processing fee.

What to bring: Please bring a printed copy of your AHA HeartCode BLS online certificate of completion with you to class. You will NOT be admitted to the class if you do not bring your certificate.
