Heartsaver First Aid

· This American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.

· Course content includes:

o First Aid Basics

o Medical Emergencies

o Injury Emergencies

o Environmental Emergencies

· A skills test for First Aid is part of the course.

· Successful completion of these skills according to the AHA Guidelines is required to pass this course. All necessary material is contained in the student workbook.

· After successful completion of this class, a card valid for two years will be issued, via email.

· 2 1/2 hour course

Room: Conference Room 8

Who should enroll: Everyone attending this class must be age 16 and up. Children ages 12 through 15 are allowed to register and attend this class with a parent who is registered and attending the same class. Please do not bring children under the age of 12 to class.

Location notes: We are located on the Inova Center for Personalized Health (ICPH) campus Inova Well; 8100 Innovation Park Drive, Fairfax, VA 22031, conference center building 2nd floor. Enter the building via the main entrance on Innovation Park Drive (under the sky bridge), take elevators up to 2nd floor, exit elevators to your right and follow signage to conference room (on your right).

Parking notes: Please allow extra time for parking and walking to the classroom as the parking lot is very busy. Note that classes start promptly on time and once class has started late arrivals will not be permitted to stay.

Weather policy: Information about cancelations due to inclement weather or an area emergency can be obtained by calling the Inova Well weather hotline at 571-472-1438. Class cancelations do not always follow local public school closings. To reschedule or request a refund for cancelation due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances call 571-472-1401. Classes not rescheduled within 30 days of cancelation will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for registration. These non-registrant initialed cancelations, refunds and transfers will not incur a 20% processing fee.
