Heartsaver CPR AED Blended Learning

Heartsaver CPR AED Blended Learning is a self-directed course which provides the highest quality training in the lifesaving skills of CPR and how to use an AED. This course will cover adult, child and infant CPR. This course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs CPR training and a course completion card or for other requirements. This course can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared to act with confidence in the event of an emergency at work, home, or in the community. This course has been updated to reflect the new 2020 CPR & ECC Guidelines. Heartsaver® CPR AED Online course is taught in a blended learning format. Students must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on skills session conducted by an American Heart Association instructor. Students who successfully complete the online course and skills session, will receive a Heartsaver CPR AED Course Completion card, valid for two years. This course consists of two parts:

Part 1 - Online eLearning Course – After registering for this course you will receive an email within 3 business days containing your Heartsaver CPR AED Online eLearning access. The email containing your code will come from eLearning.heart.org. This code in the form of a unique link provides access to the online course. You must complete all required and optional topics. After successfully completing the online course you will receive a certificate of completion. Please note, you must print and bring a copy of your Heartsaver CPR AED Online certificate of completion with you to the in-person Heartsaver CPR AED classroom course you have selected. You will NOT be admitted to the in-person class if you do not bring your certificate of completion. We suggest allowing at least 1 hour for the online eLearning course. 

Part 2 - In-Person Classroom Course – After completing the online eLearning course described above, you will then attend the pre-scheduled in-person classroom course on the date you registered for. This in-person classroom course will include hands-on practice and skills testing. The structured classroom portion takes 2 hours and requires on-time attendance for the full course. Please note, if you arrive late or leave early you will NOT successfully complete the course.

Card: After successful completion of the online eLearning course and the in-person classroom course, a certification card valid for two years will be issued, via email within 3-5 business days after the date of the course.

Course Materials: Your Heartsaver CPR AED Online course code will be emailed to you within 3 business days of registration.

Location notes: We are located on the Inova Center for Personalized Health (ICPH) campus Inova Well; 8100 Innovation Park Drive, Fairfax, VA 22031, conference center building 2nd floor. Enter the building via the main entrance on Innovation Park Drive (under the sky bridge), take elevators up to 2nd floor, exit elevators to your right and follow signage to conference room (on your right). Please note we have a strict on time start policy per AHA and late arrivals will not be able to enter the classroom after the class start time.

Weather policy: Information about cancelations due to inclement weather or an area emergency can be obtained by calling the Inova Well weather hotline at 571-472-1438. Class cancelations do not always follow local public school closings. To reschedule or request a refund for cancelation due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances call 571-472-1401. Classes not rescheduled within 30 days of cancelation will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for registration. These non-registrant initialed cancelations, refunds and transfers will not incur a 20% processing fee.

What to bring: Please bring a printed copy of your AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Online certificate of completion with you to class. You must complete all required AND optional topics. You will NOT be admitted to the class if you do not bring your certificate or if your certificate does not list Adult CPR, AED, and Choking Relief, Child CPR, AED, and Choking Relief, and Infant CPR, AED, and Choking Relief as being completed.
